Two story rammed earth
Posted on | August 14, 2010 | 2 Comments
This is our first two story bamboo and earth house. The first floor is 45 cm rammed earth reinforced with bamboo. The second floor is completely made of bamboo (bambusa balcooa). It is spacious, low maintenance, thermally very pleasant and has a very modern feel to it. Its a perfect house for a middle class family and the cost is 40 cheaper than conventional concrete house. It is built in a southern village of Nepal and will be used as an office space for a local NGO.

Please let me know where this house is. I would like to visit it.
Also, does Abari provide treated bamboo? If not, are there any suppliers of treated bamboo in Nepal?
Thanks.

What an enchanting house! We are very interested in building similar houses of bamboo and adobe here, that is in Madhya Pradesh, India. Can you guide us in the process? We would be delighted to have you teach us. Do send me an e-mail. Warm regards. Anjali Pathak
